1. OpenAI Releases ChatGPT 5

YouTube video

On Thursday, OpenAI hosted a livestream of the new ChatGPT 5 release.

GPT‑5 is smarter across the board, providing more useful responses across math, science, finance, law, and more. It's like having a team of experts on call for whatever you want to know.

Takeaway: After reading the docs and skimming the video, I did not see anything super new. So I am inclined to stick with Claude. However, their key focus was that the model is "smarter" and I have invested 0 time in trying it out.

2. Tesla is breaking up Dojo Team

The Dojo team was initially announced in August of 2021 (4 years ago) and put chips into production in 2023. However, it was announced today (August 8th, 2025) that the Dojo team would be broken up by Tesla.

This is an interesting development because the project was intended to split the hardware between Dojo and Nvidia.

Takeaway: This seems counter-intuitive of Tesla to do because they want to brand Tesla as an AI company. However, it seems that the AI outsourcing will continue to happen.

4. Economic Data?

YouTube video

Trump invited Stephen Moore to the white house to show some graphs "backing up" the firing of the labor of statistics head because the job revisions were massive (showing a slowing economy). Stephen claimed he has access to data that others do not, and it will be released in the next 6 months.

Stephen Moore works for "Unleash Prosperity".

Unleash Prosperity’s mission is not partisan and not political.

Ironically, 2 of their 5 pillars are "Low or No Tariffs" and "Rein in Spending" - which are directly in conflict with the president's actions. I suppose pillars are not important as long as you can become favorable in the eyes of the president.

Takeaway: We had a private company undermine the data of our government in a presser hosted by... our government? Not to mention, the data presented was about how Joe Biden = bad. However, the data that is in question is the United States now, how is the United States doing now? Stephen Moore wrote a book titled "Trump The Economic Miracle" and was part of Trump's presidential campaign in 2016. He resigned from a Trump nomination to the Federal Reserve Board in 2019 citing personal attacks. This is entirely political.
